As of December 1, 2003, 47 million 658.3 thousand people lived in Ukraine. During January-November of 2003 the population reduced by 345.2 thousand people, including due to natural reduction - by 321.6 thousand people (93.2%) of the total reduction, and migratory - by 23.6 thousand (6.8%). UNIAN has been reported about it at the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.
According to the data of the Committee, the natural reduction of the population during January-November of 2003 was recorded in all the country's regions.
Compared with the corresponding period of 2002, the volume of reduction trimmed by 3.5 thousand people (by 1.1%), and calculated per 1000 of inhabitants - from 7.4 to 7.3. The level of the natural reduction trimmed, first of all, due to the growth of the birth rate. In January-November of 2002, 8.1 new-born babies fell per every 1000 of inhabitants, while in January-November of 2003 this figure grew up to 8.6.
At the same time, the death rate also has grown in the country. During January-November of 2003, 15.9 people died per every 1000 people, compared to 15.5 in 2002.
The number of marriages increased during 11 months of 2003 (from 6.8 to 7.6 per every thousand of people), and, at the same time, the reduction of the number of divorces (from 3.8 to 3.7 per thousand of people).
